Five fun facts about Darwin

1. This Thursday is the 200th anniversary of Charles Robert Darwin's birth.
2. Darwin lost his Christian faith and declared himself agnostic (while wife Emma remained devout), yet he was buried in the Church of England's Westminster Abbey.
3. He spent many years developing his theory of evolution before a letter in 1858 from A.R. Wallace, who had independently developed a similar theory, spurred Darwin to get cracking and publish his own theory. On The Origin of Species was published the next year.
4. A new book contends Darwin's abhorrence of slavery influenced his work as a scientist.
5. Anarchist musicians Chumbawamba recorded a song in tribute to him.
