Maybe it's because I've spent too much time in front of television sets, but I most appreciate the sharp, pithy quotes whenever I read a news article.
Here are my two favourites from a long article at globeandmail.com on today's historic prorogation of Canada's parliament:
"My Canada includes Quebec, their Quebec does not include Canada." - Prime Minister Stephen Harper on the Bloc Quebecois.
"He seems to be more interested in his job than protecting your job." - NDP Leader Jack Layton on Harper.
It's been an interesting week for students of Canadian government as Harper's partisans have assailed a Liberal-NDP coalition that has Bloc support as an affront to parliament and democracy. Those criticisms were neatly refuted by, among others, a Toronto political scientist and a Winnipeg newspaper reporter.
