As mentioned before on this blog, I love love love Sarah Silverman. She's funny and cute -- and has some brilliant ideas. Like her solution to world hunger, presented last night on Bill Maher's HBO talk show.

Haaaa---that little cutie is hilariously irreverent, the way I like 'em best. But seriously, I'd rather see the top 1% of all income-grabbers in the world be forced at gunpoint to cough up the cash and stop being so damn piggish. Many of them CAUSE poverty anyway, through financial and government manipulation of policy. And they've been getting by with it unopposed for waaaaayyyyy too long!!!
That's funny. I like Jack's idea too.
Jack and Tom: I think we have to defeat (or at least seriously weaken) the "greed is good" meme first. That's a tough nut to crack.
Funny gal but I think it was Anthony Quinn playing the Pope in Shoes of the Fisherman that was the first to think of this.
Great blog you have , by the way Stimpson.
Stimpson,
Your idea cuts right to the root of the problem. I would suggest mandatory ethics classes be given beginning at the grade school level and continuing up through college, ESPECIALLY in business schools and as requirements for business degrees, for a start. "Me 101" must be replaced with "We, Not Me 101". By the way, I am a big admirer of a Canadian-made documentary of 4 or 5 years ago called "The Corporation." It gives a comprehensive illustration of the history of, and behavioural aspects of, that greed-perpetrating institution and provides much insight and food for thought. It, too, should be a mandatory requirement for graduation from high school and college as well.
Jack: The only problem with The Corporation was its length. Its case could have been argued in less than 2 hours. But the central thesis - that the modern corporation fits the DSM definition of psychopath - both amuses and has the ring of truth.
TRUTH: Thanks for your kind comment. Your Truth Shall Rule blog rocks, BTW. (This could be the start of some kinda mutual admiration society.)
